KOTA BARU: Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat likened blogs to coffeeshops and urged Muslims not to abuse the Internet by making postings that could destroy the community.

He said Muslims who abuse the Internet lacked knowledge and regretted that it had been used to destroy the dignity and character of others.

“Blogs are like coffeeshops which discuss everything irrespective of whether they are right or wrong,” he said when presenting the MSC Malaysia Incubator Status certificate to ICT Inkubator Sdn Bhd (IICT) here Tuesday.

Also present were Multimedia Devolopment Corporation Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali and State Information, ICT Development, Science and Technology committee chairman Dr Fadzli Datuk Hassan.

IICT, a subsidiary of Kelantan Economic Development Corporation (PKINK), was set up last year to provide incubator services to assist local ICT players and the private sector.

Nik Aziz, who is also PKINK chairman, said the state government was cooperating with Internet service provider Jaring to create a healthy and clean IT environment for Kelantan people. -- Bernama
